The long anticipated opening of Sake Sushi in Kingsville has finally arrived. Sushi has really taken over Windsor with all sorts of sushi restaurants including several all you can eat locations. Essex County however has been poorly served in this regard. Asides from Koi Sushi in Kingsville, there isn't much out this way-- UNTIL NOW! Sake Sushi is the county's first all you can eat Japanese restaurant. Located on the edge of the Ruthven / Kingsville boundary.

The restaurant has been totally renovated from its previous tenant and looks amazing. Clean, sleek, and quite modern.

Sake Sushi is not just a sushi restaurant. They offer a wide variety of Japanese cuisine including Udon Soup, Pan Fried Udons, and Teryiaki Chicken. While the take away menu has pricing, pricing in the restaurant works a little differently. It is a flat-rate all you can eat with no evident time limit, as some other all you can eat sushi places have tried in the past. The fish is all incredibly fresh, and the selection is quite impressive. Sushi includes hard to find seafood including red surf calm, tobiko (flying fish roe), and even Red Snapper. A good selection of vegetarian maki is available as well. Oh, yes dessert is included in the all you can eat price (Try the Green Tea Ice cream, its delicious).

The one downside of this place I would have to say is service. When you order, there is a bit of a language barrier. For example, I ordered a Udon Soup, and ended up getting pan-fried udon. We also ordered gyoza (dumplings) near the end of our meal, reconfirmed they were coming, and they never turned up. Perhaps these are just growing pains, having not been open longer than a week. The other downside is the amount of time it takes for your food to come out. All the food gets brought out together, so the more you order the longer you can expect to wait. My recommendations is order just a few items at a time and reorder as required.

Overall, glad to see Sake Sushi offer something Essex County has long been craving. Quality Japanese at an incredibly affordable price. Fingers crossed they will stick around for a while.

Do they charge you $$ if you don't eat it all?

It is a flat-rate all you can eat. If you can't eat all that much sushi you can order individual portions off the take away menu. No penalty for sushi left behind (aside from a guilty conscience).

I have gone to Saki Sushi twice, and had two totally different experiences. The first time: I went with a girlfriend of mine and although the service was not the BEST ever, the food was AMAZING, the atmosphere was great, and the restaurant itself was very appealing. We ordered a little bit at a time, probably about 1 app and 1 or 2 rolls at a time, and the food came very quickly. All in all, the 1st experience was great and left us craving more.
Our 2nd visit: My friend and I went back about a week and a half later and we brought my daughter (4years old)with us as she is pretty adventerous with trying new foods. We ordered her breaded chicken-she wanted chicken nuggets-- and our appetizers at the same time as about 1 or 2 rolls. We got everything all at once except for my daughter's food. After waiting quite a while I inquired as to how long her food would take, but after asking 3 different wait staff, no one could give me an answer. It took until we were pretty much done our meal for my daughter to get her food. We then noticed that we had not received 2 of the appetizers that we had originally ordered (miso soup-which is usually served first and gyoza) my friend received her miso soup after we were completely finished our meal, as I did with my gyoza, which was very burnt on the bottom to the point that I could not even cut through it.
At this point, we still liked the food, but were a slightly put off by the service. We decided to get ice cream, even though we were full, more for my daughter than anything which was a HUGE mistake. She ordered vanilla, and my friend ordered red bean. (my friend and I had the ice cream the week before and enjoyed it). With a bite of icecream still on the spoon, ready to be put in her mouth, she decided that she didnt want anymore. So, I took the bite instead of her, and bit right into a piece of glass!!! I felt something break apart when I bit down, so I spit it out, and found a shard of glass. I was completely appauled and taken a back. I am glad that my daughter didnt take that bite, although I dont know if she ate any with the earlier bites that she had taken, but still. I believe that I should have ATLEAST received my meal for free, but was only offered an apology and a 10% discount. I think I was in such shock that I just took the discount in order to get out of there.
All of this has sort of put me off to the idea of going back, or at least bringing my daughter back atleast. Although, the food is still quite delicious, and it is a great price. We will just have to see what we decide!

Me and my wife hade a very fun time there ....the fun starts when you try to get in , the entrance is behind the Ice cream shack on the side of the building, a lot nicer on the inside, we ordered food and there is bit of a lanquage difficulty, so I'm not sure if I got what I ordered (my wife hade to order the same thing 3 timed to get it) 3 different wait staff but it's all good ....I'm sure that I ate somebody els's order a couple of times ...they are very busy, they turned people away, reservations highly recommended on weekends
